Salmon are in the Oswego and Salmon Rivers as we are writing this. Fish are staging off the Oswego River in small numbers and are also staging in larger numbers off the Salmon River. In 30 to 70 feet of water, which seems awful early for this. Fish appear to be very stubborn; maybe they need a few days to get acquainted with this unusual temperatures/water. Just had the weekends of September 4, and 5, open up, if anyone is interested please contact us ASAP.

The weekend ending August 22 found the Hattrick boating over 15
adult salmon, several large Cohoes & a good number of large browns.
With about a 50% catch to loss ratio the action was fairly good.
The largest salmon was an adult male weighing nearly 32 lbs, largest
Cohoes 17 lbs, and browns ranging from 5 to 12 lbs. The fish are
starting to stage in the 75 to the 100 ft range directly in front
of the river. You will be fishing within 5 minutes of departure
if water conditions remain the same. (Getting a northeast blow
now hope it's a short one) Fishing should only get better as the
days go on. Looks like September will be the best month this year
for the adult salmon. Hope to see you on the water.

WOW, WOW, WOW, the Kings and Cohoes are finally here!
And with extra bonus of very large brown trout!
The heaviest catch of kings aboard the hattrick in several years
happened this Sunday morning with an average of 26 lbs. per fish.
(9 kings)
Fishing for these fish can only get better each day as they will
be staging outside the Oswego River and other tributaries.
There are few open dates remaining and fishing should remain good right in to October, barring anymore quirks of Mother Nature. Hope to see you on the water.

With the unusually warm weather and exceptionally high winds fishing
has been both good and bad. Brown trout fishing still remains
good but Salmon are here one day and gone the next. Some steelhead
fishing is being done over very deep water. Largest salmon this
weekend aboard the Hattrick was 29 lbs. Saturday a 5 man limit
of kings were taken aboard another boat just west of me. Hoping
this is a good sign. As we are now in prime salmon season these
fish should show up at any time in good numbers. With the unusual
warm water in all our streams and rivers the fish should remain
staging out front of the Oswego River in large numbers. Fishing
should remain good all the way in October. Check out open dates
on home page. Hope to see you on the water.

Fishing still remains good for brown trout and small salmon off
the Oswego River. The big boys have not got here in any numbers.
The largest fish off the Hattrick this weekend was a 25 pound
male king with a large hook jaw and those famous dog teeth. Kings
in numbers should be arriving any time now as the water temperature
is at the depth that is needed. Hopefully in a few days I will
be updating this with their arrival. Salmon fishing should remain
good all the way into October. The river water in the tributaries
is extremely warm and I do not believe they will go up into the
streams until it cools. They should be staging outside the river
in large numbers anytime soon.
Hope to see you on the water.
July 26,
2010
Here we are the weekend of July 24. The brown trout fishing off
the Oswego River remains fantastic! The outside fishery for steelheads,
cohoes and kings is starting to develop nicely. Browns are ranging
from 3 to 15 pounds and the salmon are ranging from 3 to 35 pounds.
With each passing day the fishing for the silver fish/salmon will
only getting better. By the time the end of August gets here there
should be fishing ranging close to the 40 pound mark with an average
on the adult salmon being 25 plus pounds. Hope to see you on the
water
July 7, 2010
Fishing remains excellent !
Here we are the 5th day of July, hard to believe that more than
half a year has gone by! Fishing remains excellent out of the
Port of Oswego. Aboard the Hattrick this past week Kings up
to 31 lbs. Cohoes 22lbs. (largest in many years) and Steelheads
up to 15 lbs. With double digit catchers per trip. Looks like
we are finally getting a thermocline. We also had a King on
the dock in excess of 35 lbs. Fishing should only get better
with time. There are a few dates left for this fishing season
but going fast. Hope to see you on the water. Jim
June 29, 2010
Fishing is excellent !
Salmon fishing has increased tenfold.
Fifteen to twenty five Cohoes, Kings, and Steelheads mixed are
the norm. Fish have been ranging from 1.5 to 31 lbs. for the
past twelve days. The combination of a huge amount of bait and
near record catches of salmon for this month should make an
excellent season. Record numbers of 1 and 2 year old fish are
being taken. Fishing should only get better with each day passing.
(I don't know how it could get much better!!). This past weekend
the Canadian Salmon Derby (Scottie tournament) the top boats
were averaging 25 lbs. per fish. This year there should be fish
aboard the Hattrick in excess of 35 to 40 lbs. with sixty more
days of growing season left. There are still a few open dates,
but they are going fast. If you are thinking of booking a trip
please get back either by e-mail or phone ASAP. Hope to see
you on the water.
June 6, 2010
The browns
are back!! Limit catches of browns, ranging from 3 to 15 pounds,
mixed in with a few rainbows, salmon averaging 5 to 20 pounds.
A must needed rain & a west wind did the trick!
Hope to see you on the big pond, Jim.
June 3, 2010
Fishing
for Browns remain slow, lake trout fishing remains very good with
a mixture of steelheads and a few small salmon.
Things should change shortly due to the thermal climate that is
just setting up.
Hope to see you on the water, Jim.
May 20, 2010
Fishing
changes from day to day, bad one day & good the next. 19 catches
on salmons weighing 20 lbs, and browns up to 13 lbs. were caught
on the Hat trick. But the numbers have been low the past several
days. With a little rain and the appearance of bait, fishing will
return to the norm.
Hope to see you on the water, Jim.
May 7, 2010
Fishing still remains excellent !
We have had limit catches of browns
ranging from 3 to 17 pounds. Groups fishing for Kings are averaging
4 to 6 kings per outing, ranging from 10 to 22 pounds. With a
hard northeast blow due for this weekend the fishing for browns
should remain excellent. Some late trout are being caught ranging
from 3 to 10 pounds.
APRIL 23 - 25 2010
Fishing was great over the weekend!
We averaged 27 fish per trip with
the fish ranging from 3 -- 13 lbs!!
APRIL 18, 2010
What a start to the 2010 season!
This weekend, April 17 & 18 in the Oswego harbor we had limit
catches of brown trout ranging from 3 to 12 pounds. Along with
Cohoes, Rainbows, Walleyes, & believe it or not a 12+ Muskie.
What a start to the spring season. Can't wait to get to the lake.
Browns look to be the largest in many seasons. If you're thinking
about booking a brown trout trip, booking early is suggested.
See you on the water. Jim
APRIL 2, 2010
Looks like a good start for the 2010 season.
Browns, Kings, Coho, Steelheads, and Lake Trout, arranging from
3 to 21 pounds are being caught in the lake off the Oswego Harbor-river.
The lake is extremely low for this time of year and water temps
are higher than normal. Bookings for brown trout should be from
April to the beginning of July. Reports from the Canadian side
have reported kings up to 28 pounds. Looks like the year of the
big fish (I hope). Hope to see you on the water.
Hat Trick Charters has put together
